World Wide Web

The World Wide Web (WWW, Net or Web) is a rapidly expanding portion of the Internet. The Internet is a gigantic computer network spanning almost the entire globe. The Web is a graphical environment and this could account for it's growing popularity. Started in the early 1990's by some enterprising scientists at CERN (Conseil Europeen pour la Recherche Nucleaire), a European Laboratory for Particle Physics found near Geneva, Switzerland, the Web was originally started as a means for scientists to share information with each other.
