Netscape

Netscape is what is known as a Web Browser. It enables point and click navigation of the internet through an easy to use graphical interface. This navigation is referred to as 'surfing'.

The story of the Netscape Browser is now a slice of Web history. In 1994 a student called Marc Andreesen working at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), in the United States (co)developed a graphical browser that allowed images as well as text to be viewed. This browser was called Mosaic. The browser was a huge success, Andreesen left the NCSA and with the help of some capital & business partners founded Netscape.
