A cut through the model A computer based model of Adolf Loos' Karntner Bar (known as the American Bar), has been produced using the Radiance synthetic imaging system. The model includes an addition to the bar designed at the Auckland School of Architecture by Timothy Mein as part of his third year course of study. Thus the model includes existing and hypothetical architectural objects. This examines the ability of computer systems to faithfully reproduce what can be seen in photographs taken from actual built objects, and so provide a "control" for evaluating the reliability of images generated using computer based models in predicting the appearance of fictitious objects. The fictitious section of the model was created with a view to developing the design beyond its present resolution, and so to some extent, examines the suitability of computer modelling as an aid to architectural design. Some exploration has been made into the aesthetics of computer generated images of the "built" environment. A description of the two bars as separate entities. Karntner Bar (part 2)
